The UHLS MyCard is a fine-free, limited-access library card for youth. It is intended to address multiple barriers to serving youth and families, including:

  • Barriers to access related to fines (e.g. computer access, checking out materials)
  • Parents not present for a child’s library card registration
  • Previous fines on a child’s card

Free for youth residing in a community served by a UHLS library.Applicants 18 and under who are applying for a limited use, UHLS Youth Only MyCard, need to provide name, address, and date of birth.UHLS library cards expire and must be renewed every three years.Youth ages birth to 18 can register unaccompanied, or with the help of a caregiver or relative who is not the child’s parent/guardian.This card may be used at all UHLS Libraries except for the Colonie Town Library.

Digital Collections

The library offers streaming video and music, downloadable e-books, audiobooks, and magazines, and subscription websites including the Times Union and Consumer reports.

Books with Wheels

Monthly delivery service for homebound East Greenbush residents who are temporarily or permanently unable to visit the library in person. Apply now or get more info.

Mobile Hotspots

The East Greenbush Community Library provides mobile hotspots for checkout to East Greenbush/Schodack resident patrons for use with their personal wireless devices.  A mobile hotspot is a small, portable device you can use to connect a wireless enabled device, such as a laptop, smartphone, or tablet to the Internet.  Users are subject to the library’s Internet Use Policy where applicable. This service is being offered in response to the limited internet availability at the library due to the pandemic and may only be available for a limited time. More info

Printing

Printing costs 15¢ per page for single-sided black & white, 30¢ per page for double-sided black & white and 50¢ per page for color. Wireless printing is also available in or to the library from any location, using any device. More info

Free Wi-Fi

Anyone with a wireless device is welcome to use our wireless network, provided they agree to our Internet Policy when logging in. There is no time limit for usage. Service is available in the library and its parking lot. Please use discretion when using the library’s wireless network, as it is unsecured. Headphones must be used with wireless devices in the library, and they are available for purchase at the Circulation Desk. Wireless printing is also available.

Copy/Scan/Fax

A self-service color photocopier is available for public use, located outside the children’s room. The charge is $.15 per side for black & white copies and $.50 per side for color copies. Duplexing (double-sided) is available for both color and B&W.

The copier also has the ability to scan color or black & white to an email account. There is no charge to scan documents.

There is no charge to send a fax. 

Computers

The library maintains public desktop computers for patron use. Each patron is entitled to 1 hour of computer use per day. Guest passes are available for non-cardholders. A guest pass is good for 30 minutes of computer time in a single day.

Laptops are also available for checkout to East Greenbush/Schodack residents. This policy temporarily supersedes our existing laptop lending policy due to library capacity restrictions during the pandemic.  Temporary Laptop Policy

Device Chargers

The library has three ChargeTech device charging stations in the library. The devices have attached cords for most types of devices. They also have USB and standard electrical inputs if you have your own cord or want to plug in a laptop, camera, or other device. Please do not leave your device unattended while it is charging.

English for New Learners

An English for Speakers of Other Languages course is held at the library and taught by Questar III staff. Find more information about the class and other resources on our English for New Learners page.

Employment Assistance

The library hosts programs for job seekers including resume building and interview skills, as well as provides access to print and online resources. More info

Museum Passes

Various museum passes are available to check out, up to 3 days, to nearby museums. Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis and non-requestable. Available to East Greenbush/Schodack residents and current Friends of the East Greenbush Library only.  More info

Interlibrary Loan

East Greenbush/Schodack residents may request materials that are not owned by the Upper Hudson Library System. More info

Drive-thru

Accessibility Services

Vision

Large print books and audiobooks are available for those who find conventional print too small to read easily.

Low-vision equipment is available for magnification of print materials. Inquire at the Reference Desk.

The NYS Library maintains a free Talking Book and Braille Library service for qualified patrons.

Hearing

Assistive listening devices are available upon request for events held in the large meeting room.

Meeting Rooms
