Storytime

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Storytime this year! We’re taking a short break, but don’t worry — Storytime will return this summer!

In the meantime, we will be offering a variety of engaging programs for young children. Be sure to check our events calendar for more details and registration. We look forward to seeing you at the library!

 

Playtime!

Drop-in and play at the library! Babies, toddlers and preschoolers can play with the library’s blocks, puzzles, tunnel and other fun toys. Caregivers must remain in the room with children. No registration required.

Baby & Me Yoga (6 weeks – pre-crawlers)

Baby & Me Yoga, for babies aged 6 weeks to pre-crawlers, along with their caregiver. Registration is required.

Yoga for Littles (ages 3-5)

Yoga for Littles, accompanied by their caregiver. Please bring either a yoga mat or a towel. For children aged 3-5. Registration is required.

Juneteenth Celebration with Chef Taffy (ages 5-8)

Monday, June 9 @ 6pm

Celebrate and create colorful, delicious, fun and easy recipes with Chef Taffy, co-author of The Juneteenth Cookbook: Recipes and Activities for Kids and Families. For children ages 5-8 with their caregiver. Registration is required.

 

Water Safety for Kids (ages 3-7)

Friday, June 13 @ 10:30am

Join mascot Bubbles and the team from Goldfish Swim of Colonie for a fun 20-minute presentation on water safety for children. For ages 3-7. Registration is required.

 

Chicken Incubation: Meet a Rooster and Hen (ages 5+)

Friday, June 27 @ 2pm

Meet a rooster and hen! Environmental educator George Steele will teach us about the life cycle of birds with a chicken egg incubation project. The Children’s Department will be hosting an incubator this summer and will be hatching chicks! Registration is required.

 

Early Learning Opportunities

Visit the Children’s Room for toys, puzzles, coloring, Stories-to-Go kits, and touchscreen computers with early learning games!

Library Card Registration Free to any individual who resides or pays taxes in the East Greenbush Community Library taxing district or Town of Schodack. Cards expire and must be renewed every three years.

Free to any individual who volunteers or works at the EGRN Library. Cards expire and must be renewed yearly.

Free to partner educational agencies with verified employment. Cards expire and must be renewed yearly.

Those that live outside the UHLS area may purchase a temporary card at the price established by our Table of Fines and Fees. Cards expire and must be renewed yearly.

All ages eligible. Youth under age 16 must have their application completed and signed by a parent or guardian, who provides acceptable identification for them.

Card blocked at $5 or more in replacement costs or fines/fees

Fines vary according to individual library rules and UHLS resource sharing rules. The EGRN Table of Fines and Fees are applicable for items which are checked out from the East Greenbush Community Library

The UHLS MyCard is a fine-free, limited-access library card for youth. It is intended to address multiple barriers to serving youth and families, including:

  • Barriers to access related to fines (e.g. computer access, checking out materials)
  • Parents not present for a child’s library card registration
  • Previous fines on a child’s card

Free for youth residing in a community served by a UHLS library.Applicants 18 and under who are applying for a limited use, UHLS Youth Only MyCard, need to provide name, address, and date of birth.UHLS library cards expire and must be renewed every three years.Youth ages birth to 18 can register unaccompanied, or with the help of a caregiver or relative who is not the child’s parent/guardian.This card may be used at all UHLS Libraries except for the Colonie Town Library.
