Job Posting: Part-Time Library Clerk (Weekends)
Description:
The East Greenbush Community Library is seeking candidates for a part-time library clerk to staff a busy circulation desk.
The ideal candidate will be friendly, service oriented and exhibit tact and courtesy while helping patrons in person, on the phone and through email. They will be attentive and a good listener with effective communication skills, be able to use a cash register and accurately collect fines and fees and be able to accurately organize and distribute library materials.
Responsibilities:
The chosen candidate will perform a variety of tasks to help patrons use the library and its resources. Duties include but are not limited to, checking materials in and out, registering new patrons, shelving, retrieving materials, collecting fees, and program registration.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduate with a customer service background. Basic computer experience using the internet, Windows applications, and email. The ability to maintain a courteous and friendly demeanor with the public, colleagues, and associates in a fast-paced, family-friendly environment.
Physical Demands:
The candidate must be physically able to stand for long stretches of time. There is some stooping and bending required as well as standing on step stools to retrieve materials and frequently pushing full library carts.
Schedule:
The position will require two weekends per month, usually 10am-5pm on Saturdays and 1pm-5pm on Sundays. Additional hours may be available to cover absences of regularly scheduled staff.
Salary:
$13.26/hour
