How Do I Get a Library Card?
You can apply for an East Greenbush Community Library card in person or online. If you are applying in person, please bring photo ID and proof of current address to the circulation desk. Current driver’s license/state ID, utility bill, or apartment lease are examples of accepted proof of address. If you are applying online, you must come in to the library to pick up your permanent card within two weeks. Please bring photo ID and proof of current address.
Who Can Get a Library Card?
An East Greenbush Community Library card is available free to:
- Any individual who resides or pays taxes in the East Greenbush Community Library taxing district or the Town of Schodack. All ages are eligible. Youth under age 16 must have their application completed and signed by a parent or guardian, who provides acceptable identification for them.
- Any individual who volunteers or works at the East Greenbush Community Library. Cards expire and must be renewed yearly.
- Partner educational agencies with verified employment. Cards expire and must be renewed yearly.
If you are a resident of Albany or Rensselaer county, you are eligible for an Upper Hudson Library System card, which can be used at any library in Albany or Rensselaer county. Those that live outside of Albany or Rensselaer county may purchase a temporary card for $30 for six months or $50 for one year. Cards expire and must be renewed yearly.
