The Little Free Library® project has been sweeping the nation for years now, encouraging anyone and everyone to put up a Little Free Library in their community, and we, in East Greenbush, decided to join in! Library Trustee, Camie Engel, led the initiative to have two Little Free Libraries built and installed along the East Greenbush portion of the Albany-Hudson Rail Trail. We thank her for all her work in collaborating with community representatives to bring this project to fruition. We give a special thank you to Jamie Tedeschi, a long-time patron and community member, for donating his time and materials to build these library treasures that invite visitors to Take A Book, Share A Book. In September, with the help of the Town of East Greenbush and the Hudson River Valley Greenway agency, Jamie installed the libraries.
Camie states, “I’m thrilled to have these little libraries available to the community! I think trail visitors of all ages will use them to find something new to read as well as share books that they love with their neighbors.” We also thank the Friends Of The East Greenbush Community Library for donating the books to get the libraries started and for continuing to supply materials as needed.
