Meet the Candidates
There are two five-year terms are up for 2022 election. The deadline to submit candidate petitions was 5 PM on Sunday, August 14, 2022. The two candidates on the ballot for 2022 are Michael Poost, current President of the Library Board of Trustees, who is up for re-election and Charlie Pensabene, President Of The Friends, who is running to fill an open Trustee position.
My name is Michael Poost and I am a retired architect. I live on Louis Drive with my wife, Denise, a retired East Greenbush Central School District elementary school teacher. We have one son who, after graduating from Columbia High School, Hudson Valley Community College, and RPI, moved to California and is a mechanical engineer.
I have been a trustee of the East Greenbush Library since 1992 and have served as President for approximately 27 of those 30 years. I have seen the library grow from a 2,000 square foot space in the Town Hall to the current 22,000 square foot free standing library that has become one of the premier libraries in the region. The library is an important community resource for all ages. I would like to continue in my role as a trustee to maintain and enhance this gem in our town.
I am a lifelong reader, and have served as the President of the Friends of the Library for the last year. I will contribute my passion for reading and community-based activities to the Board’s mission of ensuring continued access to the enriching services that the Library provides to our town. If elected, I would strive to ensure that our Library continues to operate in a stable yet dynamic manner for and alongside our town’s residents.
