Closure FAQ

When will you reopen?

The library is planning to reopen in phases.  Starting on May 26th, we will start accepting returns in our front vestibule. Returns will be accepted Monday-Friday, 2pm-6pm and Saturday, 9am-1pm.

Returns will be placed in large bins temporarily located in the front vestibule. The front door will remain open/unlocked and the interior door will remain locked. Large bins will be covered with tarps and labeled with the day’s date and moved to the staging area in the meeting rooms. Staff emptying book returns will be outfitted with masks, gloves and required to thoroughly wash hands after touching any potentially contaminated materials (materials/bins are considered “contaminated” until they have sat, untouched in quarantine for 72 hours).  Please keep in mind that returned items in quarantine will remain on your card until staff can touch them to check them in.  Fines will not be assessed during this time.

For more information on this phase and future phases, see our reopening plan.

Are there any library resources I can use while libraries are closed?

Yes!  We have a variety of online content, and the available services are all listed on our home page:  https://eglibrary.org.

What if my items are due? Will I accrue late fees?

The due dates for all checked-out circulating materials will be extended until after we reopen. No late fees should accrue on materials that were originally due during the closure period.  Any fines/fees accrued before the closure will remain on the account until paid.

Can I drop off my materials in the book drop?

The drive-thru and book drop are also closed during this time period.  However, beginning on May 26th, we will start accepting returns in the front vestibule.

For more information, see our reopening plan.

What if some of my holds are ready for pick up?

Holds that are listed as ready for pick-up will be held at the library until we reopen. Please disregard the pick-up-by date listed in your account.

Can I place new holds through the catalog?

Yes. Staff are unable to process holds on items while we are closed. A backlog will build up, but we are allowing you to continue to place holds, and we ask for your patience after we reopen while we do our best to clear the backlog and deliver your requested items as soon as we can. However, you can still access and place holds on downloadable ebooks and audiobooks through the catalog, directly through OverDrive, or with the Libby app.

Can I still apply for a library card?

Yes. You can register online to get a temporary barcode that will give you access to almost all digital resources, including e-books, audiobooks, databases, and more. When we reopen, new applicants can visit the library to obtain and validate their physical library card.  If you want to use Hoopla and need to prove your residency with the temporary barcode, please contact us at eglibraryinfo@eglibrary.org for instructions to do so.

My library card is about to expire. How can I renew?

All accounts nearing their expiration dates during our closure have been renewed until July 1 of this year.

I have a question about my account. Is there anyone who can help me?

If you have any questions about your account or how to access digital resources please email us at eglibraryinfo@eglibrary.org any time. Phone service hours are Monday/Wednesday, 1pm-8pm and Tuesday/Thursday 10am-8pm. Live chat is available in the bottom right corner of this website Monday-Friday, 9am-11am.
