Library Board of Trustees Committee Overview

Every Library Board member serves on at least one committee. Committees include at least three (3) members of the Board. The President appoints all committee members. Members of the standing committees are appointed at the first meeting of each calendar year. Ad Hoc committees for special purposes may be appointed by the President as needed.

Standing Committees

Administrative Committee: Serves in an advisory capacity in matters to include, but not limited to, Finance, Personnel, Facilities Management, Risk Management, and Technology Planning.

Services Committee: Serves in an advisory capacity in matters including, but not limited to, Public Relations, Advocacy, Community Liaisons, Library Policy, Evaluation of Services, and Strategic Planning.

Special Committees

Nominating Committee: Appointed by the President two months prior to the organizational meeting held in January. The committee presents a slate of qualified candidates for officers of the Board at the January organizational meeting. Nomination proceedings governed by Roberts Rules of Order

Budget Development Committee: Appointed by the President five (5) months prior to the budget vote in November. This committee collaboratively develops a draft budget with the library director for presentation to the full Board.
