Reading Challenges

Ongoing Reading Challenges

Kids and teens from birth through grade 12 are invited to join our ongoing reading challenges all year long! Track your reading progress and earn free books as you complete each challenge.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten, 500 Books Before Middle School, 100 Books Before Graduation

Who may participate?
Any child not yet in kindergarten may participate in our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge, including babies and toddlers! Students in grades K-5 may join our 500 Books Before Middle School challenge, and those in grades 6-12 are eligible for our 100 Books Before Graduation challenge.

Which books count?
Print books, graphic novels, eBooks, audiobooks—any genre you like! Record each time you read a book, even if it has been read before. Rereading favorite books from home or the library is allowed!

How do we keep track?
Use Beanstack to keep track on a computer or mobile device. If you are not interested in tracking online, ask a librarian in the children’s room for a paper reading log to get started.

Visit eastgreenbushlibrary.beanstack.org to register and start logging your books, or download the free Beanstack app:
