Amended, Library Board of Trustees, 6/23/2026
Renewals and Reserves Policy (PDF)

Purpose

The East Greenbush Community Library (“the Library”) supports equitable and efficient access to library materials through renewal and reserve services consistent with the mission of the Library and the policies of the Upper Hudson Library System.

Policy

Eligible library materials may be renewed unless restricted by reserve status, item type, lending rules, or other circulation limitations.

Physical materials borrowed at the East Greenbush Community Library are eligible for automatic renewal up to two times, provided the item has not been reserved by another patron and is otherwise eligible for renewal.

Physical materials borrowed at other Upper Hudson Library System member libraries are subject to the circulation, renewal, and reserve policies of the lending library.

Digital materials are subject to shared lending policies established by the participating libraries and digital content providers. Interlibrary Loan materials obtained from libraries outside the Upper Hudson Library System are subject to the policies and approval of the owning library.

Patrons may place reserves on eligible circulating materials. Certain collections or material types
may be excluded from reserves or subject to additional lending restrictions.

The Library reserves the right to establish administrative procedures governing renewals, reserves, hold timeframes, borrowing limits, and related circulation practices in order to ensure equitable access to materials and efficient library operations.

Repeated failure to pick up reserved materials may result in limitation or suspension of reserve
privileges.
