Golden Shovel Award

Jody Squadere, Adult & Information Services Librarian
Awarded by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County  (2023)

Jody Squadere was recognized as a Golden Shovel recipient by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County. This award acknowledged her contributions to community horticulture and related educational efforts in partnership with CCE.

Through collaborative programming such as Cooking with Felisha Chandler, Jody helped bring hands-on culinary learning opportunities to the community. Participants learned how to use fresh ingredients to create healthy, delicious meals and prepared two recipes during the interactive class.

The program was supported by EFNEP (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program). Felisha Chandler, Nutrition Program Coordinator 2 at Cornell Cooperative Extension, shared her expertise while also speaking to the real-life nutrition challenges of feeding active children.

We are grateful for Jody’s leadership and dedication in fostering meaningful community partnerships and expanding access to culinary literacy programs.
